Originally from Oklahoma, Dr. Bowden completed his undergraduate pre-medical studies at the University of Oklahoma and then attended medical school at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his post-graduate training and surgical residency in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After moving to Mississippi over twenty years ago, he joined the Lucas Surgical Group, PA in private practice. He continues as an attending staff surgeon at Greenwood Leflore Hospital where he has performed thousands of surgical procedures.
As the former Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Dr. Douglas Bowden is board-certified in General Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. His surgical interests are primarily devoted to breast care, however he has over 20 years of experience in a broad array of surgical procedures.
Dr. Bowden is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and th American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He’s also a member of the American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery and of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
